Lost Friend

 Dear lost friend
I would like to tell you
that you have distorted beyond recognition
the truth of what true friendship is.
You tell me
“money and friends don't mix”
You tell me
your “point has been made”
You tell me
“goodbye”
I would like to tell you
money has no bearing on real friendship
So during our next encounter
when we pass on the street
my anger is bubbling over
because of the imposition
of the conditions you have placed on our friendship,
as if you are the only one affected by
a sensless goodbye
